I hate it when people say that it's stupid "just turn/pill it up a little bit". Well I want to be turned up all the way AND as light as possible. Not one or the other.

Street car... you are worried about 200 lbs which at most should net .2 in a 1/4 mile and less in the 1/8th. Not worth it. Are you in some kind of racing class that you are .2 seconds away from being competitive in?

It all depends on if it is an all out race car or a street car.

You could always replace every bolt with a titanium bolt. Let me know if the money spent was worth the gain.

I didn't say it was stupid. I have done it before.... I think its more impressive to have a street car with full interior that's is fast. Not saying one that is stripped isn't cool too. To each their own... If that what you want to do thats cool, I just want my seats and a/c.

I'm saying in general, like fastest car you've owned?

My point is different strokes for different folks. Some people dont mind street driving cars on ET streets with big converters. Personally I think its kind of fun, doesn't really make it a "race car". I daily drove a Cobra with a 4500stall, 12pt cage, kirkeys, no AC, ET streets for a long time. Loved it

Also "just turn it up" isnt all that easy when you're already makin 1000-1500hp. Some times to get faster the best thing to do is pull weight, pulling weight also makes things substantially more reliable IMHO. Weight is what kills driveline parts

Oh ok, I've only been in the 12's. I agree with you %100. My first mustang was stripped down, and I didn't mind it. If thats what people want to do that's cool with me. I have just gotten a little older, and now I appreciate the comforts too. I just see all these new cars out there that are fast as fuck with leather, power everything, and the a/c blowing cold... When I see an older car like tha, That impresses me.

New cars are fast as hell for sure, hell my CTS-V with less then 10 mods total runs well into the 6's at 100+ mph on street tires. But stuff like that can be done with old cars. Point is to each there own ya know? This guy made a thread asking about weight, not about making more power.

Yeah very true... Sorry Mike. Your coupe will defenatly be a lot lighter than mine when we run them. I am wondering how much of a difference it will make.

I put the weight back in since I won't be racing during the winter.

It has full interior and stuff now. Just no a/c.

It should weigh about 2800-2840lbs now.

                              Mine stock was 3080lbs.

Slicks and 2.73s are no fun at all.

My car ran a 9.01 at 80.5 mph on street tires. Couldn't go over half thottle till the middle of second lol.

                                2.4 60 ft. LOL

My best 60' on street tires was a 2.0 still ran a 9.0.. That was during the summer and full weight.
