No one expects a Festiva to be not slow.

I have seen a FWD Civic run 8.xx @170 mph in the quarter. Hallsville, 2005, I was working the lights on the line at the track when he went that fast. It wouldn't hook up past the 660' mark, or he would have went faster.

No one would expect this one either. It's a third gen, so it looks older than dirt. Super light, I could almost push it on the trailer by myself and I am not a huge guy. Manual steering rack from the factory.

I'm not sure I get your point. Are you saying that everyone should expect Civics to be fast??

If I were to build a rice sleeper.

              Datsun 510 all the way.

The door crash bars are well worth the effort - but depends on what you value your time at. Those bars are something like 33# each. Bigshoe just did his. I'll say this, be prepared to spend a day doing it and be very careful or you'll make the doorskin wavy (the bars are glued to the outer part of the door)

Don't forget to pull up the carpet and remove ALL of the tar paper with a heat gun (if you haven't mentioned it) it's worth 20-30lbs.

Tubular front suspension will be the biggest bang along with some sort of drag-race wheel.
this is a good one. my dad had his weighing 2800lbs with him in it and it still had the passenger/ rear seats so it would still look stock on the inside. the only thing that give it away was the exhaust and draglites. the best time he pulled was a 9.8 1/4 with an h/c/i 306 and a 175 shot.

I am saying that any idiot ricer boy can, and many have, made Civics that are fast, You see Hondas at the track every weekend, how many fast Festivas have you seen? Hell, how many Festivas have you personally seen running down the track period?

Which would be more of a sleeper at the track, a Civic or a Festiva? That is all I am saying.

I was worried about making my door skin wavy, so I got my cut off wheel and removed as much metal from the brace as possible without actually taking the whole brace off.

Exactly what concerns me. How much weight did you shed per door?

Why don't you make the car faster by upgrading the motor. I have done the whole gutting of a car before, but wouldn't it be nicer to have all the nice stuff like seats, a/c, carpet, and still go fast? All these new cars are fast as fuck and still weigh an ass load. Im not knocking you on doing what your doing, i just would rather have a comfortable ride that goes fast.

I didn't actually weigh it, but my guess would be at least 25 pounds in brace alone.

Trying to get a cut off wheel in there isn't an easy task. I wound up taking some metal of the inside of my door as well. If you attempt it, make sure you "map out" all of your connecting points for your window, handle, and lock mechanisms. If you take off too much in the wrong spot, then your door can flex and cause binding in something.

The amount of time I put into it would have easily cost more than fiberglass doors if I had to pay someone to do it.

we can build you some Ti headers as we do for some of the cup teams for qualifying. Weight costs more to loose than hp does to build these days in pro motorsports.

The lighter the car the less it breaks. I'm not taking about mid 6 second ET's, more like mid-low 5's
