  • Amsoil and weight recommendation

In my f100 with approx. "10,000" miles and 347 with moderate mods. Been using mobil 1 10w40 but would like to use the best oil available and the safest heaviest weight. Read Amsoil is some good stuff, but unsure where to get it. Live in the North Fort Worth / Keller area. Any local dealers that sell it? Use of the truck is daily with the occasional trip to the track (still haven't made it yet but I will!). Oil pressure ATM is 25 at idle an 50 at cruising.

P.S. Electric oil pressure gauges are the debil! Always showed 5psi at idle in gear and cruised at 27ish. Scared me! Jim let me borrow a. Mechanical gauge for sh*ts n giggles. Jim always suspected it was the elctric gauge. Wow... At idle in gear 25-30 and cruises at 50ish. Much much better. So, I thought the thicker oil might make it better psi.

doesn't matter i bet the oil pressure will not change if it does not by much IMO!

10-30 should be more than enough for what you're doing. DEFINITELY don't go with 20-50. 10-40 may be too thick, IMO. General rule of thumb, 10 psi of oil pressure for every 1000 RPM. There are exceptions, but none that I'd be worried about in your situation.
