dude just build your stock motor. keep your stock block and crank, have your rotating assembly balanced, get some good bearings and rings have it all professionally assembled and youre good to go. keep your stock compression.
now is NOT the time to go cheap. if you dont have the money now, you better wait till you do...like old saying goes..."not enough money to do it right the first time, but enough money to do it twice."2011 Mustang GT

get all the machine work done to the block, then when you are ready to do the swap, pull your engine, get you crank polished and balanced, then bolt it all together!
Kieth Black makes some nice pistons that will hold 600 horse easy. They are not forged pieces, but that doesn't really mean anything. Hypereutectics are a different material and get a lot of bad press because people think it is shitty.
If you follow KB's instructions and set the ring gap correctly, they would probably last longer than forged pieces.
Used cobra rods, KB pistons, rings and pins should be around 500 total if you find a deal on a set of rods.Full time ninja editor.

ive seen guys with 490 rwhp 3V's with stock shortblocks run that much hp for 2-3 yrs no problems....no problems with the motor or stock tranny.
then ive seen a 440 rwhp 3V break the stock motor and scatter shit everywhere. or a guy with 450 rwhp break his stock tranny but his 500 rwhp buddy is still running his with no problems.
it just depends.2011 Mustang GT

There is a guy with 600+ rw that still has a stock t-45 and it's had no issues.2012 GT500

Thoughts?
Ever drove a car with a centerforce? It's more gradual and smooth.
The specs use the pucks and those tend to be harder on the trans.
That's from my personal experience..

Every single person who I've talked to that has swapped a twin disc from a single says it's almost smoother than stock.Full time ninja editor.
