  • whats eating my tires?

This is the second set of tires that has been warped on my front end. The first set was an all-terrain that endes up with nots down the middle. The set below is wore on the inside on both tires. Alignment isnt off. I want to say it is balljoints, but i dunno. I rotated the tires yesterday, so the tires are on the back in the pics. I want to fix the front end before i spend more money on tires.

Any ideas would be great. The shocks were changed about 30k miles ago. And the tire pressure has been right. This is on both front tires.

Is the car lowered any? If so you may need caster/camber plates

Hmm, those tires are old enough to have dry-rot cracks, how long has it been since you swapped them on? If they were purchased used or just recently swapped on, looking at the tread isn't going to help much.

The tires are a little over 3 years old, so somewhere around 40k

Were the 40,000 miles put on them by your truck?
I have never seen a set of tires dry-rot and start cracking in three years like so on the right side of the first picture.

yes, they were brand new. They are goodyear tracker 2's. The dry rot is bad. This is on my daily, on almost all highway driving.

Did you rotate them in the 40,000 miles they have been on there? You should rotate them every 6-8,000 miles because even the best front end alignment is going to wear the tires a little bit over a long period.

I can say these havent been rotated in about 15k miles.

The last time i rotated, the tires that were on the front at that time were showing the same pattern as theae, but not at this extreme.

That looks like a lot for 15K miles.

I recommend rotating them every 5k miles or so. The inside wear is caused by turning sharply into parking spots. When you turn your wheel to the full lock position and sling into a parking spot, this will wear the front tires considerably faster than you think. Try to adjust your driving style and see what happens...

It probably is more miles than that, but i dont know the exact number. It probably is closer 20k. But like i said, this truck warped the last set as well.

Your toe is off on both sides if that is the case on the other side as well. In other words. the front of both front tires it pointing outwards enough to wear but not enough to see. it scrubs the inside down. See it all the time

And any non performance rated goodyear tire is junk. They ride like shit and wear bad not to mention dont last. What is the dot number on the tires. I can decode the build date
