  • drag radial

Is there a good drag radial I can run on the street that doesn't road walk? I have a tire about like an et street on my 89 gt right now and it is a fight to keep it on the road while driving normal.

I love my nitto 555s they hold great on the street and you can actually drive them in the rain with decent traction

i run around on 28in bias ply et streets and while it def. doesn't drive like a "normal" radial tire i def. don't "fight to keep it on the road". hell, i had to drive home last night on 12psi and it didn't give me much of a problem.

I don't know how much hp.. It has a built 331 w/ aluminum heads, carbed, thru a c4. It should run mid to high 6's. I just wonder if I have too much slack in my spider gears causing this.

i never had much trouble driving on 26x11.5 e.t. streets. you probably just need to add more air.

I've had absolutely no issues with several sets of the MT ET Street Radials. What you should be running with an auto anyway..

If its just good weather, the Mickey T's ET Street Radial, a 275/60 on a 10" wheel works well.

If you need it in the rain as well, Nitto drag radials work decent for all weather.

BFG drag radials aren't bad either for your level of power and may last a little longer than the mickeys and hook better than the nittos.

Et Drag radials should not walk around on the highway if they have enough air in them. At the track, I use to run about 16 psi, on the street run about 20-22 psi.

Do you have the sway bars on it still?

It still has the rear and the front is removed. It still has the factory upper and lower control arms on the rear end. I have a good set to put on it. I just havent yet.

Slack in the spider gears will not cause the problems you are experiencing. It sounds like something else to me. Have you driven the car with regular street tires to see if it feels the same?
