  • 07 Tahoe, mildly rough idle, 80K miles

Whether in gear or not, the truck has slightly rough idle.

It hasn't had any kind of maintenance recently, what kind of maintenance should I do, and what part of that will smooth out the idle?

    Sparkplugs only?

the new tahoes dont have a serviceable fuel filter and the spark plugs and wires wont help shit.
im a tech for chevy and the thing you need to do is clean your throttle body with some cleaner and it will smooth out, be careful that if when you clean the idle stays high you will have to disconnect your battery and touch both cables for 10 min then reconnect to reset idle learn

I tried to buy a filter for it yesterday- was told that they weren't listed as a serviceable part. The counter guy did say that, depending on what kind of connections it had, plug on one end, screw on the other, or both ends had screw connects, he could find me the filter.

I'll start with the throttle body. Thanks.

what kind of fuel filter is non-serviceable? I learn something all the time.

                Well fuck me then!

BTW would carb cleaner work on the TB? I have an LS1 T/A with a very minor rough idle.

Yes carb cleaner will work. Use that and a shop rag to clean the opening and the blade.

In 03 is when gm started putting the fuel filter in the tank as part of the pump assembly.

Clean the throttle body. Every so often my mother's old tahoe would idle rough and sometimes die when at a stoplight. The throttle body would be caked with carbon and choking itself.

Then trade it in for anything but a Chevy and you should be fine.

Same issue, 03 silverado rcsb 5.3 swap, when I would put the AC on or turn to complete lock, it would surge like crazy and almost die. I cleaned the TB and reset, haven't had an issue since.
