Of course you can, the used car market two years ago was in the shitter when you bought it.

It's true. I'll run that Not-So-Bad-SVT. I saw what it made on the dyno last time. I ain't skuuured.

I'm curious as to know why. These reasons seem to vary greatly for people.

I don't know where you're getting your facts from but unless you are a Dealer with Manheim access your not buying a 2010-11 Cobra for under 40k. I don't know of many 11-12 GT's for over 40k.

            I didn't say 10 or 11 did I?

            Anyway, the 07-09 looks better.

We are talking about 10-12 GT's, so therefore it would only make sense to compare apples to apples. And thats your opinion on which looks better. The 2010-up SVT's look better (imo) than the 2007 -09 SVT's...

Looks are a matter of opinion and taste. The interiors in the 2010's+ are far superior and well more optioned than the 07-09's. Sitting inside of 07-09 isn't much different than sitting in a base GT.

When the 10's came out, I wasn't crazy about the rear but it's grown on me and I think they are sexy cars.

It has recovered somewhat. For a while there some of the prices were pretty depressed. I bought a car during that time is the only reason I notice.

We are not comparing apples anywhere else in the post so why start.

We are comparing a 79 fairmont chassis with a blower and irs to a solid rear 3 link suspension with a chinese made gearbox.

Looks are subjective, someone had to buy all those cars from 94-98 after all, so I won't argue that point.

The interior on the gt500, no matter the year, is leaps and bounds ahead of the 03 cobra. I'm still not that impressed by the interior of the 10+ cars, but interiors aren't what makes me happy with a sports car unless we are talking about seats. Its a mustang, american made, and therefore you expect a crappy interior.

The new cars are too refined for my tastes. They took a mustang and made it a lincoln that goes fast. I like fox bodies because they are crude, and I miss those days. The 03 cobra still has some of that crude feel left to it.

I've had the same debate since selling my '03. I daily drove mine with 550 rwhp with ZERO issues, and have never driven a more perfect mustang for me. Its just what you prefer. I think the IRS, cable clutch, and ease of putting down 600hp is enough for me to make my decision. Plus I still think the '03-04 looks meaner, but it is getting kind of dated. It would be hard to find one that isn't ragged out for a decent price. They are out there, but you'll feel like you're paying too much. It's all down to preference.

I worked in the service department at a Ford dealership in Houston when we got the first shipments of the new GT's. They are sweet I demoed one and had a blast with it for the night. However, soon after people started buying them, we saw a lot of problems with clutches and did 3 engine replacements. Ford hasn't proved anything yet but all three of the ones that came back for the warranty engine had cold air intake kits on them. They are tuned from factory to get the most out of the engine from factory so if you end up getting one, I recommend getting a good tune after every upgrade.
P.S. I'd get the cobra I love the 03 body style personally.

68K plus mustangs produced in 2011 and you have only seen three come back and all had mods with probably crappy tunes. not bad

Just urious of other opinions, i have owned an 03 cobra that made 600.

Has anyone owned both and what do they think?

                              thanks
Damn. That's a hard choice! I love driving my '11 and my old '04 was a blast, just on another level.

How are the tunes working out with the new cars? Last I saw, some tuners (not all of them, mind you) were having hell with something about burning up the #8 piston?

Let me ask you this: if you were to tear up the motor on the new car and if Ford didn't warranty it, could you afford to build a bigger/better motor?

If you don't wanna mess with it, grab up a clean Terminator and enjoy the fruits of someone else's labor. Whipples, Kenne Bells, Turbos are all out there in the Terminators, ready to rock.

Then again, the new car is generations nicer than the Terminators. Nice seats and cool looking gauges in the '03-04's and the nicest overall interiors in mustang history in the new ones.

Jeez, you could debate the two back and forth forever LOL! Just do it DFWM baller style and get them both!

LOL! Was just about to say this!

I've been looking and finding a few near $30k that are clean. Just have to look for them.
