I have a project that is near complete yet have a very frustrating problem.
Short version: (The front parking lamps do not get power, the highbeams do not work, and the horn sounds constantly when the key is in the on position.)
The rest is irrelevant unless anyone familiar to this knows the problem and can help with information.
The car is a 90lx 4 cyl auto to 5.0 manual conversion. The donor was an 88 5.0. The engine harness and computer are from a 91 aod so the maf conversion is done. Everthing seems in order, car starts, runs and drives, but I have a problem with the headlight harness.
The chassis side harness original to the 90 has 2 connectors for the headlight harness. One of these connectors is an 8 pin connector. The other is a 4 pin connector with 3 wires leading to it. The 8 pin connector matches perfectly with various 5.0 headlight harnesses I have tried. The 4 pin connector does not match any headlight harness I have tried except the original harness. Since the original was a 4 cylinder harness and I needed the alternator connections, I tried using the 88 headlight harness by splicing the 4 connector harness. I think I have the pinout arrangement correct for the wires spliced on the headlight harness but there remains a problem.
The front parking lamps do not get power, the highbeams does not work, and the horn sounds constantly when the key is in the on position.
Considering the problems appear to be more than might be affected by my ameteur splicing job, I suspect the problem might lie somewhere in the chassis side harness. I have found references similar to this issue on other internet searches but no actual fix.
Does anyone know what differences there are that make the 90 model year special and how and where to repin the connectors to correct this issue?
Thanks in advance
