My rear shocks are junk, and I'm sure thats not helping me any.

Which shocks would be ideal? Lake wood 70/30s up front and 50/50s out back? Or 90/10s?

I ran 8.02's with a 1.8 sixty foot in my 4 cyl shelby charger. It's all about power to weight.

1.6's should be obtainable for you...I remember some mid 1.6's on motor out of my old coupe with welds all around...and I used to only run 26x9's on it. That was actually on stock struts/shocks...with the front sway bar removed and an airbag in the right rear.

I might missed it above....what RPM you launching it at?

EDIT: best combo for launch results are going to be 90/10's and 50/50's....you should also take as much weight as possible off the frontend....moving your battery to the trunk will help.

My 95 would do 1.8's on Nitto 555Rs stock motor and 1.7 on the nittos on the bottle. That was solid upper and lowers sportline springs and bilstien shocks nothing for drag racing other than 3.73's

Your (obvious) lack of power is what's killing it - so, it would stand to reason that a dead hook is NOT the answer, not without more gear etc.

Back when my red car was stock it went 1.69 60's and regularly did mid 1.70's. It has to spin SOME to keep the engine up in it's power. If it dead hooks, it falls out of power and has to recover, and as a result, the 60's suffer.

Hell, even when my car made ~380ish, I never made it dead hook - it always slowed down. (In this video, obviously not the stock engine it went 1.59 I think - but a dead hook bogged it and dropped back to 1.65's)

This is usually what I was after -

For a really stock 20-yr old engine, I would expect lower 1.8s is the best you could expect. Some will say they did better, but that was probably IN 1991 when they had a fresh engine, clutch, suspension, and tires.

Brooks, what suspension set up would you recommend for stock power?

                I know a smaller tire will do a better job, 26x9? 26x8?

What's your take on drag launch springs vs 4cyl springs?

Clutch is new, and I think with better tires a 1.8 would be ideal, maybe a high 1.7.

My goal with suspension mods is low 1.6

At that level, just about any good LCA/UCA's would work - it's just a matter of what you can deal with as far as ride degredation.. I tend to overbuild stuff like that in plans for future mods, so I'd be using Wolfe, UPR, Team Z etc.

26X10's would be fine, but you have to gear it accordingly, or air them up accordingly, or both.

I was wanting to use a baseline or team z upper control arm set up, with some weight jacker style lower control arms. SVE has some new for 180$ but for 200$ I can get MM severe dutys off the board.

With a wider tire I'd want more air pressure right? Start at 18 and work my way down?

Ride quality isn't really and issue, I don't drive it very far. The furthest I drive is to the track.
