  • 2008 Honda Civic-does this sound like a wheel bearing?

I have noticed a slight groaning/grinding type noise;what I have determined as a wheel bearing in the past in other cars. Noise comes from the front left of the car. Maintains a slight noise during straight driving, goes away in left turns and increases during right turns. Does this sound on par with a bad wheel bearing? Does the front wheel bearing in the 06-12 civic's have to be pressed in/out?

sounds like what you are describing...dont overlook the rear though, they can do the same. the fronts are pressed from what i recall

I was passing it off as road noise from bad tires and alignment; but the true test will be when they install new tires and align the car tomorrow to see if it is still there.

I've had CV joints/axles make some strange sounds, too, especially when turning.

The noise changing with load change (swerving left and right) is classic wheel bearing

cv Joints will typically pop when making sharp 360 degree turns.

Sounds like a wheelbearing to me. They have to be pressed in and out. Not a bad job if you have a press, BUT careful on how they go in! The ABS sensor magnets are on one side of the bearing and they have to go too the inside. The only way to tell is the color of the seal on that side.

It also makes a clicking noise on sharp turns but not a popping.

On a side note the car averages 35mpg lol; just wish it had been issue free when I bought it.

Mine always "click" before they "pop". They're pretty bad when they "pop", and there's usually no mistaking what it is.
