  • Questions about swapping from an iron 4.6 to an aluminum 4.6

I am in the process of rebuilding my 04 GT with a Teksid short block from a 98 Mark VIII. I have noticed that the timing chain setup on the iron block is slightly different because it has a couple of alignment/pivot pins that appear to be pressed into the front of the block whereas the Teksid block looks to have tapped holes instead. These pins would be used as the pivot for the tensioners. Which timing chain set is used if staying with SOHC heads? And where can I source the appropriate pivot pins? I am assuming my only option would be a Ford parts house.

Also, if I am using a cobra oil pump, can I still use my Steeda UD pulleys? I will be replacing the water pump with a GT pump. I haven't been able to find much online in regards to these questions.

    Thanks in advance!

The 2v chains and guides should be all you need. The op should be interchangeable, just make sure you use the cobra pickup as its 15/16" (bigger than the gt)

Cool beans, I might just hit you up for some info via PMs. This process is going to take a while as I am saving up for some 38cc Trickflow heads and an intake. I have decided if I want a HPS Hardball'r or the Edlebrock yet.

            Staying NA with high compression..
