09 Roush keeps throwing belts

My dad's 2009 Roush 427 keeps breaking the belt. It is supercharged and has one belt that runs everything. He has done research and this seems to be a common complaint for these supercharged Roush cars. He claims Roush is the only one who makes the belt in the right length.

Others seems the think there is just too much tension on the belt... it is the hardest belt to install on the last pulley I have ever done.

My suggestion was to measure the belt and get a custom one made that is higher strength and maybe just a tad bit longer to take some tension off of it.

Spend the money on a cog conversion, expensive but was some of the best money I spent on my Lightnings. I never had belt issues after the swap.

If that's not an option I would make damn sure all the pulleys are aligned and the tensioner is properly adjusted.

Check your alignment X1898373627!

My Saleen had the same problem between the super charger and alternator almost a 1/2 inch of misalignment. Problem fixed no more belt problems.

This might sound like a stupid question, but what is the best way to check alignment? When looking at it it all looks straight.

I was going to suggest finding a gates or a gatorback for it - but apparently Roush wanted to cash in on unique belts.

There are no aftermarket belts that fit these cars unless you switch to 8 rib. I have researched this ad nauseum.

Here are the facts based on my research and notes. All belts listed are ones that are anywhere *near* a size that one could use on our cars with either an M90 or a TVS...you can see that in 6 ribs ONLY Roush belts fit...if one is willing to go to an 8 rib setup there are a couple of additional options but that of course requires custom pulleys.

Roush 6 rib belts:

2005/2006 FEAD M90 belt: RPP# R07020015 -13-AA / PN 401967 / 131.732"
2007/2008 FEAD M90 belt: RPP# R07020032-13-AA / PN 402065 / 132.441"

The car is basically how it came from Roush. Car only has 13,000 miles. He has owned it for a year and this is the 3rd belt that has shredded.

He has added these mods:
1 piece drive shaft
Drive Shaft Safety Loop
McLeod Twin Disk Clutch
Shift light
Line Lock
