  • Against my better judgement, another "what is it worth?" thread.

The idea of selling the ls-coupe came to mind last night. I am definitely not ready to "fire sale" the car, as a matter of fact I am not even real sure why I'd want to sell it in the first place (other then I just happen to like projects). With that said, if I were to sell it I wouldn't take some stupid low amount for it, for all I care it can hang out in the garage for however long it needs to.

Anyway, here is a little run-down on the car (keep in mind every part, sans engine, has just over 1200 miles on it), transmission has less then 1000 miles and the Mike is one of the best around, as an added bonus Mike will restall the converter 1 time for no charge (which would be good if someone wanted to add nitrous or forced induction):

Car has gone 7.1 @ 97mph in the Texas heat, goes straight down the track, super consistent, no power adder ever on the engine, can be driven anywhere (wouldn't recommend driving in the rain), gets decent mpg's (all things considered), has cold a/c, fuel injected 2005 engine, bulletproof transmission/rear-end, all the safety items, brakes, wheels, freaking everything. Chassis and fuel system are ready for any amount of power you can throw at it. Would be super easy to throw a turbo in (along with the stock cam that I have) and make some SERIOUS power.

Anyway, I am sure I am forgetting some stuff, not one part of the car has been left stock so it is hard to remember everything. Not a motivated seller, but would like to know the ballpark I'd have to play in if I were selling.

    Thanks in advance.

    Pics:
(please excuse the cheesy photo, was from our engagement photo shoot and I was talking to someone when the picture was taken), only including cause it is a good pic of the car.

thats what my old lady is saying too, i think i have a disorder where i like to tinker and this car is pretty damn complete. if anything it just needs someone to step in and add nitrous or f/i and it'd be insane (it's pretty insane as it sits)

I dunno man, I wouldn't get rid of it.

I think we need more pics of dvill gt's girl to make a determination.

                haha,

i guess "don't sell it" beats a bunch of low-ball amounts!

i've always done this with projects, i have the most fun designing, planning, tweaking, dealing with issues, etc. once they are together and reliable it kind of takes the fun out of it for me. like with adding a/c, i had the car together, it ran good, but i wanted/needed to work on something so i tackled the a/c, got that working good to find that the cooling system needed improvement, got that done and now it has gotten a little stagnant. not that i am complaining, but the car starts, goes where ever i want in comfort, is fast, etc. no real reason to tweak (except to add hp) and i don't really want to drop a bunch more cash into it for a while.

She's on here, send her a pm and ask, lol.

About the car, DON"T FUCKING DO IT!!!

When I first saw the build, I was drooling for a turbo kit on it.

Hold on to it, start putting together a kit and get some street wheels and tires.

Super clean car James. I would personally do like BlueCoupeRedVert said and get a set of Street rims/tires and keep the drag strip tires for track days.

i really have no idea. i know that sounds strange, but i don't live in the lala land of thinking that i get some huge return on my investment, but i also don't "need" to sell it so i'd like to see something fair for it.

i have a running parts list, down to pretty much every part, part number, and what it sells for (based on summit's pricing or similar source), and if you do not include the actual car (i.e. body, paint, cage, glass, lights, etc.) there is over 17k worth of parts in it. again, not trying to indicate that i'll see a good % of that money back, but just food for thought. unlike many, i really did make this post to get an idea of what would be fair.

car is a lot of fun and was built with a whole lot more power then it currently has in mind (which makes it seem pretty mild when running bottom 7's high 6's).

At least 10k, Maybe $12-3k, but right now you won't have people knocking the door down. You have to find someone who likes the swap.

Things that will throw it off are 3 speed transmission and two tone paint with orange being one of the colors. That kind of limits buyers, but I think it is a cool color combo.

thanks for the input. while the 3 speed is obviously not the best for highway cruising, she will happily go down the free way at 70mph (28in tires and 3.73's), 80 is where it starts being annoying for any extended period of time. at the track the auto simply can't be beat, much more gentle on the drive train, easier on the tires, shifts are instantaneous, constant, etc. plus, per the recommendation of mike, i went with an automatic valve body, which i was hesitant with at first but man, being able to put it in drive and cruise is SO much nicer then the manual valve bodies i was used to. mike claims that there is no change in strength and the only reason people did reverse manuals is because there were no real good shifter options and accidentally going into neutral/reverse was easy, now that there are good shifters (like the 1/4 stick) that is not a problem.

the color is a love it/hate it type of deal. you would be surprised how many people "hated it" in pictures then love it in person. you definitely get noticed, i'll put it that way, i've never pulled up to a light without the drivers on both sides looking over (either giving a thumbs up or a gleam of disapproval!)
