I actually went ahead and called FMS today and spoke with a pretty informed guy there. He said the B cam would probably suit me better than an E, and that he would not use the 1.7's with the E cam. The lift on the B would go from .480 to .510 with the 1.7's, and said it would be fine, especially on the exhaust side. He also was not a fan of advancing it, especially with the 3.73's. I understood that duration doesn't change. So I'm really pretty confused almost to the point of having one made up. It's about $330 or so, but if I start changing rockers it will cost me that anyway.

I think for the 94/95 a custom is the best bet . I have always been a fan of the Steeda cams which are just modified letter cams and the 19 is made for the fickle 94/95 cars . For what it cost you can get a custom . I have used 1.6 and 1.7's on the B , E and the 18 with good results but each combo is differant . To be honest I am not a huge fan of the heads you have but I agree with the FMS guy on the rockers because of the size of your valves and the E cam with a 1.7 at .530 lift could make a ptv issue . I think no matter whick one you chose you will need a re-tune .

I bought the car as-is, with all the mods. The old "autologic" chip is the only tuning it's had. I had Gearheads do a couple of pulls to see where it was at, and it was lean up top. I didn't think the numbers were too bad, even though it would have benefitted from a tune even then. I hadn't even tuned it up(had 5/6 year old Rapid Fire plugs in it), and knew I was going to do a few other things. I've done a major tune-up since, after this cam install, it will get a good tune.

coming from an sn95 guy, i would suggest the tftw stage 1 cam. It will net much better results and a much better exhaust thump. The steeda 19 is a pos cam. I made more power using the stock cam with 1.7 rockers then i did with the steeda 19 cam.

Lift isn't why I recomended b cam with with 1.6's I can tell you for sure that duaration and timing change slighty. I have used bigger valves (2.02) to .512 with plenty of ptv clearnce. It has to do with timing changes of the cam and the loss of dynamic compression

            Cam specs for 95 1.6/ 214/210 .443/.443 intake events -11/45 exhaust 39/9 lobe lobe sep115 deg.
            95 cam 1.7's. 218/214 .471/.471 intake events -9/47 exhaust 41/7 lobe sep 115 deg

            Bcam 1.6s. 224/224 .480/.480 intake 5/39. Exhaust 49/5 Lobe sep 108
            Bcam 1.7's 228/228 .510/.510 intake 7/41 exhaust 51/3 lobe sep 108

95 cam with 1.6 has static 9.0:1 compression. Has calculated dynamic of 7.4:1
95 cam with 1.7 has static 9:1 has calc dynamic of 7.3:1

            Bcam with 1.6 sttic 9:1 dynamic 7.73:1
            Bcam with 1.7 static 9:1 dynamic 7.66:1

For a low compression motor or any for that mater you want a good dynamic compression or you loose effiency. I would go with the one with highest dynamic comp ration under 8:1 for pump gas street car

Man, thanks for all the info. It's not a big deal for me to buy some 1.6's and keep all the numbers where they should be. It's more important that I do it correctly. I don't want to bust into it any more than I need to. I really appreciate the effort and explanation.

Was that an apples to apples dyno more power with the same parts or just seat of the pants and e/t ? What heads and intake did you have ? I only ask because I have seen really good results in a few differant combos with there sticks . The 18 is a B with more durration , the 20 is an F with more and the 19 is made specificly for the sn's . I have two buddies back if Fl. that ran them and there cars run very well . I used to work 2 blocks from Steeda and spent allot of time talking shop with those guys and they are very respected in the Fl. 5.0 scene .
