Help! 97 cobra theft acting up.!

When my 2000 GT began acting similarly (in a Wallie's parking lot on a Saturday night), it was a broken wire in the tilt steering colum - right where it tilts.

THAT was a bitch to find...

Yup, it's the PATS system. You need to override it in the tune.

Try to lock and unlock the door with the key twice. Worked on a dodge truck i worked on the other day. Dont know if the mustang is the same. ??????

gotta have tuning software like the SCT pro racer package otherwise it has to have a tune loaded at a shop to be reflashed, or if you have a sct or something you can buy a mail order tune with PATS disabled and flash it your self.

or maybe your key got damaged somehow.

it's not the key, it is the chip inside of the key. same thing happens if you go to home depot and have them cut you a new key from a blank, car will start and then die shortly after with theft blinking.

if you don't have another key you either need to get the car tuned to eliminate the theft deterrent, or take the car to the dealer and get a new key made.

Lock the car with your factory remote and unlock it....they try to start it...worked for me!

we try all kind of shit like that last night. We has 5 guys searching on their smartphones trying to find a solution lol! nothing worked. Most likly it will need a tune adjustment to fix it.
