Do you need a special adapter or are they direct fit connections?

if went to install them and they were different i would just cut the connectors off both and solder them.

I could have sworn when I did the swap many years ago, you just have to trim the nub on the lights and jam the connector on. I used the stock wiring, but I believe the lock tab is on the top vs bottom.

I did this on my 04 GT. I bought the correct connector for the Cobra bulbs (got mine from Autozone), but didn't feel like splicing or soldering, so I pushed the pins out of both the plastic connectors and put just the new plastic connector part for the Cobra lights on the original GT wires and pins. No cutting or splicing, and the pins lock in the same way.

Does that make sense the way I typed it out?

they do just plug them in. I have done it many of times.
