I have an 03 mach engine in my 04 GT and as of recently this is what happened to it... This is not my vehicle but sounds exactly the same with no loss of oil pressure and no loss of power.

sounds just like a friends(OH II) car a 2002 mustang gt. His car shot a spark-plug out of the head and melted the coil-pack. the noise was coming from the spring in the coil-pack arcing against the fuel rail. Lucky for him the threads in the head were still good. Spark-plug went right back in and was on the road with a new coil-pack.Doug

Could also be a rocker is about to pop off. Before my car blew up a few days prior I was having problems keeping it running as I would slow down and come to stops. Car felt strong so I didn't think too much about it...thought bad gas. Then 1 day I started it up and the whole car shook like crazy and dropped a cylinder. I ended up dropping a few valve seats and popped a rocker of which is why it was down a cylinder.Don't Mess With Texas.

But like most it's always the 8th cylinder because ofthe popular coolant issue with the 03's. Mine is an 04 that was built late 03, so who knows. I'm just ready to get it back on the road feeling new again soon.2019 ram 4x4.....no toys currently
