Inspection sticker

My mother-in-law scrapped off the inspection sticker instead of the registration sticker. It looks beat up but readable dose she need to replace it and if so how?

Just tape it back up there if its still readable with scotch tape, if not, get it reinspected

I did this once and did a pretty good job of patching it up. The next day got stopped for no tail light and cop told me I had to get it re-inspected. He even cited me for it.
