no, not the starter, the starter solenoid. follow the red positive cable from the battery to the solenoid. on that post is where the car gets all its power from. under the battery cable is several wire terminals that feed power to different harnesses. follow the wire away from the post, should see F/links within inches or so. should be solid, not melted, split in two...

x2 this should be your problem

While you've got the ignition switch apart look into the harness connector for signs of melting or burnt contacts. I had the recall done and then a couple of years later started having problems again. Turns out i had a melted/burnt harness connector. Either the replacement switch had crapped out and melted the wiring harness connector too, or it was melted when the original switch was replaced and not caught at that time.

I said fuck it and dropped it off at a trusted shop this morning. It's 315 now. 6 hours later. They still working on it. As soon as they call me to tell me why it is. I will update. Plus it is only costing me 40 bux to get it diagnosed.

Here is the answer. Someone before me replaced the harness and fuse box. They used wire cutters and Jew electrical tape. Over the time the Jew tape was wearing down and wires were touching. Needless to say the shop replaced every wire leaving my fuse box along with using the spare fuse box I had in the car (which I pulled from another stang) all for 300 bucks !!!

Glad you got it fixed... It's hard to e-diagnose against somebody's hack job.
