  • Changing the radiator on 2002 Protege5?

How much of a pain in the ass is this? My roommates radiator has a hole in it and I told him I'd check into it. Fuck, changing that shit on my mustang took half an hour and most of that was just waiting for the coolant to drain. I think this thing has electric fans which I've never worked with. If anybody could give me some general directions or a link to step by step directions it would be much appreciated. A google search didn't really turn up much.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Ok, so we got the new radiator on and it's still overheating. The old radiator was definitely leaking. When the vehicle would heat up, I could see the fluid coming out between where the plastic bottom connects to the aluminum core. Burped the system a couple of times. I did notice that when I would squeeze the radiator hoses, I couldn't feel any fluid going through it. I'm thinking that the thermostat stuck and that's what caused the radiator to seperate due to too much pressure build up.

Does this sound correct? I guess I'm gonna try and tackle the thermostat tomorrow. I fucking hate changing thermostats.

Definitely. It's just south of Austin. Thanks for the offer though.
