  • 2011/12 5.0 guys, in here!

Looking to possibly put gears in, along with Boss intake and maybe mufflers. 5.0 guys, what all have yall done so far to your cars, and what results have you had? Post dyno graphs if you have em. The car is a 300A with an automatic, 3.15 gears. How big of a difference would 3.73's make?

    Thanks!

ive got the 6 sp manual. with just a CAI/email tune it put down 387 to the tire.

    ive got 3.73s stock.

if i had an auto i would go with a 3.55...i think that will be the best all around gear for them.

i currently have an O/R x-pipe but havent dyno'ed it since the addition.

with stock tires, grannyshifting in 100 degree weather ive seen 13.10@110...best mph of the day was 111.

if i were you i would just add a roush TVS blower with 3.55s and drag radials.

Right. I'd go with blower, gears, exhaust and a good tune. That'll be a powerful combo with these cars.

Be careful if you get a tune. There have been some people popping the #8 cylinder after a tune. I haven't seen any on a stock tune yet so make sure it's a reputable tuner.

I've done nothing but, axle back exhaust. Planning on an MGW shifter.

Some friends of mine own a speed shop locally and I was in there the other day and a guy brought in a dark blue convertible 11' 5.0 Automatic wanting to put a tune on his wifes car. They told him he probably wouldnt notice much difference w/the tune, but would lose 2-3mpg for sure....

They are extremely wrong! We have seen as much as 20-30 hp gain with a tune. Personally if I had a 5.0, the best mods to start with are full exhaust, cai tune and gears. With that you will be in the 410-420 rwhp range. From there I'd move on to suspension mods and brakes.

What I have seen common with most all the cars having a problem with number 8, is being a mail order tune. Every car that has had a proper dyno tune none have had a single issue. We have retuned numerous that already had mail order tunes and all of them have gained as much as 10 additional hp, drivability was much better and mileage has vastly improved with all of them.

This is my first hand experience having worked on numerous 11-12 5.0's.

Supercharging is definitely out of the question, taking into account many factors. More than likely, will be looking at the boss intake, cai, gears and tune. I am guessing that now temperatures are going down, at 85-90* the car will be putting down 350whp stock. The above mods should put it around 420-440 at wheels. How much would you guys say mufflers would help on these cars? Lower control arms are on order also.

10sec302-- I have no idea who you were talking to, but their head was major far up the ass.

                  Thanks

i still think that the 3.55's will be your best bet with the autos.

let us know if you see over 420 @ the tire with the BOSS intake, CAI and tune. i wouldnt get my hopes up.

                        -Steeda Intake

                        -Bama E-Tune
                        -JLT Oil Seperator

Best run to date was 12.5 @112 with just intake and catback with Bama E-tune out at DR. Stock suspension and tires. Gotta get the coin ill be doing a custom tune, but for now the e-tune has done just fine for me.

i havent had it on the dyno to this date.

Boss Intake is gonna loose a some down low, but whats lost is gained up top, all depends on your goals for the car. If u have plans for a blower you could probably skip the intake and boss mani because you will have to change it down the road if you go FI. Mufflers are going to change sounds mostly, your big gains come from removal of cats and restrictive stock piping, so a full catback would be a better choice IMO
