well, I need to figure this one out before I start sourcing the big pieces. Would you guys say build a fox (93 Cobra in my case) based around a 5.0 pushrod or a modern power-plant? The car is already meant to be non-original, so this seems more like a tech/power/reliability choice. I'm more familiar with the pushrod engine, so that alone has me thinking to go that direction, but so much progress has been made I was considering a boosted 4V (or similar).
I think I could flirt with as much as 1000rwhp if I considered doing a modern engine, which seems like the practical upper limit of what this car should be. Somehow, I've got to make it a reliable car, mostly weekend duty, but I'd like the peace of mind to have all the power on tap w/o sweating a bang.
This isn't a money-is-no-object project, but I'm prepared to have some coin wrapped up in it (especially in light of recent personal changes in my life). I mainly want to start w/ the real 93 Cobra as a base (perhaps a partial basket case), so that the end result is my favorite mustang with all the balls to back it up.
Thanks fellas!
oh and P.S. This car will need to have a flat stock hood, undecided on wheels, but basically I want it looking low-key with only hints of the danger lurking beneath the hood
