my best friends 95 lt1 auto would run 8.7's all day long on street tires, went 13.5 every pass. he wasn't bone stock, he had bullet mufflers in place of factory if that's worth anything, stock everything else.

Of course it will, unless he is an idiot or there's something wrong with the car.
My dad's dead-stock '87 convert auto went down the strip twice, running 8.7 both times.

yes consistenly and on stock street tires. Didn't spin at all.
