  • welds on a 94gt? some questions

whats the need for the wheel spacer? i am considering taking off the 03 cobras and replacing with some welds. is 3.5 as wide as they make in the front? dont they make a 5in wide for the front also? is that worth a crap for driving on the street? should i go 8 or 10 on the rear? just in the planning stages, would be looking to trade or find a good used set. thanks for the help as always!

    god bless.

Spacers are to clear the brakes. Skinnies are not as good for braking or turning on the street but if you drive reasonably it's not bad. I would go 10" in the back unless you're not making much power, in which case 8" with a sticky tire would be fine.

Yes they are safe, you just have to check the tq on them every now and then, depending on usuage...'H'

are there any #'s or markings on the wheels themselves that will let me know they wioll correctly fit a 94gt? i plan to purchase used and dont want to get stuck with a wack offset or something.

            god bless.

Probably not. Just take a tape measure and check the backspacing. Most of the 3.5" wheels are going to have 1.75" backspacing.

they are in the classifieds stephen.

would i need spacers, different studs, different lugnuts to run welds on a 94? if so thats too much trouble! maybe i will get my 17x9's narrowed a bit?

                        god bless.

Studs? Probably not. Lugs, definitely. Spacers, maybe. Depends on the wheel.

Don't do it E! If you're not happy with the look of what's on there I can feel you, but I would stick with some 17" - 18" street wheels with 10" - 10.5" rears like you have.. The stance looks great. Particularly if this is just a cruiser.

Is it just the fronts you have an issue with? Then go to a 17x8 / 17x10.5 or 18x8 / 18x10 combo.

the car has 17x9's on the front with 275's. i just want a skinnier look on the front. i usually run 245's on the front, but was just tossing the idea around of a narrower rim.
