  • 04 cobra questions...

Ok... picked up an 04 cobra today and have a few questions.

    1. The clutch squeaks a little bit until I apply a little pressure to it then the squeaks goes away. What could this be?

    2. While idling I will idle around 1k unless I rev just a little bit then it will dip under 1k and stay there, is this normal?

    3. Also while idling my exhaust has little popping noises as well when I come to a stop, is this because of high flow cats or something else?

    4. The shift ball which is chrome I think is always hot when I get out of the car, then get back in it after 30 minutes or so even when it's in the shade. Is this normal as well?

Other then that the car runs great, Going to be taking it to Gearheads on Friday probably to have it checked out and if I need a tune see if I can get that done as well. I also have a tuner (SCT) that came with the car. But I don't know SHIT about any of the tuners. Also sorry for all the ignorant questions.

04's were notorious for the shift ball heater sticking in the "on" position. There's 2 40 amp fuses that power it. Pull the fuses and you should be good to go. Ford's fix costs ~$600 for a new module, but it's honestly easier to just pull the fuses. j/k - please don't pull any fuses based on my recommendation

            throwout bearing going bad

            2. While idling I will idle around 1k unless I rev just a little bit then it will dip under 1k and stay there, is this normal?

            no idea

metal expands with heat. makes popping sound when contracting

            4. The shift ball which is chrome I think is always hot when I get out of the car, then get back in it after 30 minutes or so even when it's in the shade. Is this normal as well?

Because you knew everything about Mustangs since when ?

                        Birth ?

The guy didnt know the answers to his questions so he got on a mustang forum to ask for advice, not for some prick like you to bash him.

Idle- stock or aftermarket tb? My stock tb would idle fine, but when I switched to a single blade it would hunt for an idle point. Simple blip of the gas always cleared it up. Congrats on getting one finally Jeff. Details on it? Any plans?

Seriously, on the metal shift balls, they're hot as hell in the summer, and colder than hell in the winter. I prefer leather.
