  • LS swap people inside

A friend of mine has a 1975 Camaro, 355, th350 car. The 350 recently dropped a valve and made scrap out of many good parts.
We were kicking around the idea of a 5.3ls swap. I wanted to see if I could get some of the experienced people to chime in on what parts would need to be purchased and fabbed up to get a pullout 5.3 installed and running with his transmission and the truck injection setup. Thanks for any input.

motor with all accessories ($550), a stand alone harness ($450), Computer ($100), Bosch 044 external fuel pump ($200) and then you can nickle and dime yourself to death on the rest (fuel lines, fittings, motor mount adapters, etc)

I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm not sure about mating the th350 but I know its not hard but I went with a 4L60e myself

FYI.. JOHN might have an extra 4.8 or 5.3 with acc, wire harness and computer

try to find a motor with the harness with it, it is pretty simple and straight forward to convert it to stand alone and you will save a lot of cash.

the f-body and the cts-v pans are good for car swaps

th350 will bolt up (sans 2 bolts) and he can even use his current converter with an adapter (i have a gm one with the right bolts i'll sell cheap)

the 0411 pcm (used in express vans) are good because they can control both DBW and DBC throttle bodies and they accept +12v a/c request vs. requiring serial request signals.

www.lt1swap.com has A LITERAL SHIT TON of information about the wiring.

          http://lt1swap.com/2000harness.htm has the harness info

These are the PCM's to look for:

2003: Serv. No. 12576106 with Hwd. No. 12570558 - Pretty much all 2003 stuff should have this PCM.

2004: Serv. No. 12586243 with Hwd. No. 12583659 - Mostly GTO and Express vans got this PCM, as well as Caddy CTS-V. MIGHT be in trucks.

2005-2006: Serv. No. 12589462 with Hwd. No. 12589161 - I think you'll only find this in Express Vans. Maybe in some pickups, not for sure.

I don't think that switching to water really did much, the best bang for the buck is the super shrouding i built that doesn't let any air go past the radiator!

This is something I was wondering about. Thank you. I suppose the best place to find a harness would be a junk yard or supplier like lkq?

Anyone have a link to that spacer needed to use his th350 stall? or info on which mounts to use?
