Yup, he could build a budget turbo kit for that car and it would haul ass. That's what I would do and it would be more fun. You don't have to worry about your bottle being empty and you can run it all the time anytime.

I'd be giving the turbo a lot more thought if it were not for my 10:1 compression ratio. I know the f/i cars live longer with the lower c/r. Otherwise my setup is probably not too bad. I have a big fuel return fuel system (will need bigger injectors), the 317 heads with the 72cc combustion chamber seem to be the choice of a lot of lsx turbo guys, the ls6 manifold is also often used on the f/i cars, have a lot of room under the hood.

Hummmm... might not be a bad idea for me to run the car for the rest of the season with this converter (adding a line lock), then tear it down this winter and build a turbo setup.

Could probably get 400 for my lsx swap longtubes and buy a set of shorty headers to flip. Ebay intercooler and wastegate, good turbo (not sure what size would be best with a 364ci ls motor, 3bar map sensor and o.s., larger injectors, get mike to restall the converter, lots of piping and couplers.

dude my motor is 10:1 compression it will be fine and you will make more power with less boost.

yep.. you just have to be cautious with the tuneup, but nothing that's a deal breaker. Especially if you run E85.

James you can fine good turbos all the time for good prices. keep an eye on yellowbullet and see what comes up. You could put a 76mm on it and probably run 6.0's if not faster. My little small frame T4 T76 at 17lbs ran 6.2x-6.3x's all day long and my car isn't too light.

I will keep my eye open for sure.

76mm is a good size for a single? I know it is a PITA but if you can point me to a good breakdown on the good brands, sizes, etc. it would help a lot when I am looking. T4 indicates the flange size where it bolts to the exhaust, right? 76 indicates the mm on the compressor side? I also hear of hybrid's and such.

Oh, and if either of you see any deal that is real good for me please give me a heads up. I'm not opposed to buying the turbo ahead of time then putting the other parts together.

On your size of motor you would want a large turbine wheel an A/R too keep the back pressure down. A small frame Turbonetics T76 like I had might be too small and cause too much Back Pressure. There is a guy on YB selling a Borg Warner S400 80mm T4 housing for around 700. The brands I would look for would be Precision, Turbonetics, Borgwarner, & Garrett just do some research and see what turbo would work best with your setup.
