    Older chevrolet vin question

    Do any of you know anything about older chevy vins? I have 65 impala that has a cowl tag and build sheet with the same numbers but the door vin shows a different last six numbers. And carfax doesnt support car vin's older than 1981. How do I go about finding the cars history. I need to apply for a lost title.

    Not sure if it'll help. If you have the VIN though I'd think a friendly DMV employee should be able to help.

      Already tried that. The car hasnt been registered since '77 and they say that its been purged from their records. I'm gonna try some of these people that get the certified title copies. My dad says he's done it on several of his cars and has been able to get a title for a small fee.
