  • Used AN Fittings - any value?

A friend of a friend apparently has a ton of used AN fittings off of planes. My friend brought me a box to see if i had any use for them or if I would be interested in buying some.

With my car, I'm going to be using all new and I'm looking at using the all black connectors - so I really don't have any use for them.

I figured I would post up to see if there is really any value at all. For the most part they are red/gold anodized, there are a few red/blue mixed in. Most of them are dirty and have wrench marks.

If I am not mistaken aircraft AN fitting use a different degree in sealing portion of the fitting ( 37 degrees sticks out in my memory) and will not freely interchange with automotive AN fittings which I think are 45 degree fittings.

Ahh... OK. I just did a quick look online here and these appear to be 37*. I didn't know if there was a difference or not.

You may be ok as I am sure as long as you know what you have or are getting you can buy either one you need.

I would think that all of the fuel pumps and other components car guys would use would be a 45* connector. I'm sure there would be some leaks.

If there is still anyone interested, let me know - just as long as you are well aware that there is a difference.

AN fittings are all 37. The ones you can't swap are ones like plumbing fittings (the stuff that home depot sells) Those are 45 deg.

So these will, for sure, work with other fittings from Summit, Jegs, etc?
