  • Disc Conversion for 68 Coupe

I have a 68 Project Coupe im looking into swapping out the stock drum brakes for disc brakes. Can i get some info as to what kind of vehicle I can pull these parts from?(Junk yard) I know theres brand new kits outhere but trying to keep the cost down as i have a long way to go.
I currently have 17's 8in front and 10 in the rear. I am still tryin to check what kind of rearend is on there but it should be the stock one.
    Any info would be appreciated.
    thanks

There's not much in the yards that hasn't been crushed years ago.

I used Vintange Venum, or you can look at MustangSteve's brackets.

If you want to go cheap you can do a Granada swap if you can find the spindles.

That's what I've got on my 68 and it works fine.

I too have Granada brakes on mine, and they work fine, but these days there are better options out there.

Mustang Steve stuff has been good to me (roller bearing clutch pedal assembly, clutch cable).

        Also, check out this guy:

Very good guy, and this is a great solution for not much money. And if you think $550 is a lot for brakes, well... you're just wrong. It costs nearly that much to do a Granada swap right, and you still end up dicking with details. The details are all worked out for you here.

Ditto on the MustangSteve brackets and then you can go with Cobra or GT brakes depending on your budget or deals you find.
I think Steve also sells all the brake parts too when he has them. Either way I think it's the best bang for the buck doing the Cobra brake conversion.

I have actually thought about putting Cobra brakes on my 04 GT and using the GT's stock brakes with those brackets on my 68.

I was under the impression that the 11" rotor wouldn't clear the hubs?
