  • Mark VIII E-Fan Controller ???

Which controller is better to use with the Mark VIII E-fan ? Have read that failure mostly happens with the controllers rather that the fans. Let me know

That Painless controller is one bad dude. I want complete control of my fan, On/Off/Auto, two speed control for highway and A/C. With the included 70 amp relay and a 3g alternator it should all work great. I daily drive 120 miles round trip, don't want to experiment too much!

They work like a champ. Had one on the 46 for a couple of years now. Just make sure you have the controller where it has airflow over it. They dont like heat.

A 70A relay is a must and the 3G mandatory. I used a Dakota Digital controller and the contour fan. No zip ties and 2 speed too. Low speed fan on for A/C or when you reach your desired temp. Hi speed when you hit whatever temp you want.

I would like to try some of the PWM (pulse width modulated) controllers. They should be able to "kill" some of the start-up, spin-up amperage needs of the Lincoln fan.

Another overlooked area of the heat equation is getting rid of all that hot air.

Also is the low speed supposed to be wired to come on with the A/C or is it the high speed.

SPAL's latest version of that fan controller specifically says not to use it with the MK VIII fan

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: The FAN-PWM-V3 is not intended for use with fans that draw more current than 30amps continuously. This includes (but not limited to) SPAL extreme performance fans, Ford Taurus fans and Mark VIII fans. Not compatible with SPAL fans featuring the AP71 motor. This includes part numbers 30102082, 30102049, 301048, 30102042 and 30102056. THE SPAL FAN-PWM-V3 IS INTENDED TO BE USED WITH SPAL FANS ONLY.

I have low fan with A/C or when temp hits 195 and high set at 205. A lot of controllers can't directly handle the amps because of a small 30A internal relay. All you have to do is use the controller to turn on a 70A.
