  • thinking of going e85, need help building fuel system

i am currently in the middle of a build and want to run some higher compression with boost (10-10.5:1). i am not to familiar with the fuel systems too much and was curious what would be the cheapest way to convert to e85 to support 600+ at the wheels. i want to build a return style system but really don't have any clue on what to buy. i really want to piece together my own system so i don't have to go spend 1k at glenn's performance.

i am considering a trunk mounted fuel cell, a pump (hopefully someone will recommend), i don't really know what fittings and stuff i will need, nor how to hook it up to the stock electronics, and if i need a pressure regulator or not since it is a 99+ car that uses the voltage to regulate pressure.

if i could get it done for 1k with injectors i'd be pretty happy. TIA.

You need to look at my classified add labeled Aeromotive Fuel System FS.

It would easily support 600 on E85. I have NIB 60# injectors but I would go a little larger than that with E85. Not all of what I have will help you though. Feel free to pick through it.

I am switching to an intank Magnafuel Pro Tuner 750 custom made into an 18gal aluminum direct replacement fuel tank (it would bust your budget wide open though), 120# injectors, and E85.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

i really have no idea what i am looking at when i read your add, but it looks like i would probably need all of it minus the fuel rails. would that be everything i need to make it work besides the fuel lines? from the filter to the motor? how do you run the return line?

is that a returnless set up?

          ***edit***
yeah right man. i just went to lethal performance and the triple hat system is 2k. i can get a return style system for about half that.

Currently with the happenings in D.C., one of the Federal programs that could be cut are the ethanol subsidies! Just something to think about too.

then i would just run pump gas w/ water meth injection. that was the route i was thinking of going anyways.

currently i have the cobra hat/pumps, 40a BAP, and a snow stage two kit. i just thought a return stye e85 would be the better choice.

It takes a lot more e85 to run x hp. What is this going in. Car, motor, turbo, supercharger? A gas motor with 60lb injectors, -10 fuel feed and -8 or -10 return depending on your school of thought and a aeromotive a1000 pump will easily support 600-700 hp.

i know, i am building a 4.6 0.030,10-10.5:1 compression, h/c/i, vortech s-trim, bolt-ons. would like to be able to hit 600whp on e85 or pump gas with water meth.

You can keep the returnless system. I had Twin GT pumps, Fore Hat, Dual FPDM's with my own harness, upgraded wiring, BAP, -8 line, and 80# injectors.

It was still good @ over 700 RWHP on E85. FPDC in the mid 80's and Injector Duty Cycle in the mid 80's as well.

Thats a good start but that alone would bust his $1k budget. I have a set of slightly used Ford Racing 80lb injectos that I'm selling now for $350 obo they have less then 500 miles on them.

These injectors are what he needs. Then I would sump the stock tank and buy an inline pump like the Weldon 1100A I have or Magnafuel etc. buy the jegs braded lines and fittings. Find a used regulator and some rails. I bought my Aeromotive A1000 Regulator and Aeromotive rails for $200 bucks $575 in fuel lines and fittings, $325 for the pump, $435 80lb injectos, a sump for around $60 bucks and built it all my self. Thats around $1595... You can find parts cheaper but you will have to buy all used parts. The only thing used on my system was the Rails and Regulator. Everything else was new.
