Looking for a connector

I am trying to find a round barrel connector that can house a 40-60 pin harness. I have seen the .mil standards but they are way too high and the crimp tool for them is even worse.

It can further be described as having a round outer sleeve that twists to lock the two halfs together.

I found one in a hot rod rag a few months ago but now can not find the magazine again.

Anyone have any suggestions?

That is the one but I need a vendor willing to part with just one. I use a lot of the deutsch 2, 3, 4 and all the way up to 12 pin connectors but I want a clean throughwall connection like what you listed for the main EFI harness at the bulkhead. All my deutsch stuff is packaged and retailed by MSD or summitt.

The place I saw several months ago was car related store with these (like you posted) for sale as a kit for around $70.

Call Allied Electronics. They have a warehouse at 30 and 820 (east ftw) and stock Deutsch, Amphenol, Cannon, etc, etc. I've gotten single parts from the on many occasions.

Who was it (Brooks or Paul maybe?) that was going to use one of those in place of the salt and pepper shaker connectors? Anyone have an installed picture?

Give me a month and I will put up a few pics. Right now my harness runs through a hole I cut in the trans tunnel. Soon to be replaced with new bulkhead connectors.

I found where I am getting my connectors but I hit a roadblock of sorts. I really do not want to use a dremel.

I need a tool like this


To make two D-Shape holes like this

Note the size I need is the 24 pin (larger of the two measurements)


So I can mount this.............. in the firewall


Does anyone have any idea? The tool pictured is WAY too expensive for the two holes I need to make.

Any ideas on making a clean cut like that in the firewall without a tool like pictured above?

Yeah those are harnesses I've used on different projects, but I don't have the D-cut tool. Sorry
For stuff like that we would normally send the part (dash panel, junction box, or whatever) out for lasercutting... but that's not really an option for an installed firewall.

I'll ask around and see if anyone has a good DIY solution.
