  • Happy w/ my slow 2V

Finally got around to getting my Vortech installed - huge thanks to the folks out at True Street Motorsports.

My near stock 04 GT (catted midpipe back, power pipe, and 75mm TB and Plenum) with a stock pulley, non-cooled Vortech V2SI made 393 hp @ ~8 psi on a 105 degree day (393, 387, 391 on 3 pulls). I know, it's still slow, and many of your grocery go-getters would drag me silly, but the car runs perfect, and I couldn't be happier.

If you're looking to have work done - I highly suggest checking out True Street. My car won't be going anywhere else.

Pretty good numbers. I remember those days well though. What's your fuel setup? When I was making those numbers in warm temps with my car, I ended up being borderline lean when it cooled down significantly. I ended up going with a forged motor, P&P heads, custom grinds, more boost, fuel, etc. though. Looking back, I wished I'd have left it right where you're at and had more fun driving it.

I need to get my car over to the dyno there since it's been ages.

I'm running 42#ers, a walbro 255, and a KB BAP. I don't think I'm going to push for more anytime soon, my next projects are all suspension. Probably going to go torque arm eventually.

Of course, I'm sure I'll get used to the new power and want more and start looking at an MMR 600 and all the fun that will entail. Hopefully I'll be able to fight that urge, though - I'm really happy with it right now.

i have this op's current set-up but i spun a bearing or something (motor knocking burning tons of oil). now i am doing exactly what you have (patriot 3's, forged 10:1, mph blower cams, dual cobra pumps w/ bap, water methanol, vortech v2).

is it driveable? what fuel system were you running?

i am basically trying to do something similar to this guy (http://www.brightmare.net/) he's running e85 on 10:1 compression making 660+ on an s-trim. i want to do the same but on pump gas on a really conservative tune for the street like 500 whp and then have an eliminator chip to switch to my water meth tune on the fly and have over 600 hp.

I'm still running a stock intake and the baby V2-SQ blower designed for the stock motor. My engine and fuel system are setup for a lot more if I decide to go that route, but I grew tired of throwing money at it (plus my kids started getting older). It's been a few years since I've dyno'd the car, but it put down 508 RWHP very conservatively on pump gas. Right now the bottleneck is the blower and the intake.

I am running the SVT focus pump intank, Holley 50# or 55# (I think -- can't remember), Aeromotive rails, and an Aeromotive Eliminator pump with a BAP switch on a sumped tank. The aux fuel system comes on at 3 psi, so I can cruise town without it really having to run.

The car is 100% streetable and safe to drive. It has the A/C (although not working currently) and drives fine on drag radials. The problem is that the clutch is a little heavy for some people, especially if you're in heavy traffic, AND it's too much power for a daily car. Honestly, if I get on it, there isn't enough road around. The car explodes once it hits boost, so if there is any traffic at all, I'm sniffing someone's ash tray because I go from way back to up their ass in no time. I don't daily it, so it's not a big deal. I will admit I got to drive it a lot harder and a lot more often on the street though before I built the motor. Does that make sense?

yeah. kinda. lol. my car isn't a daily either. plus i am running bigs and littles. i know the clutch will have to be stout to handle the power (probably going to run a promotion balanced clutch). i just want it to be streetable enough to be able to drive it to the track and maybe out to "mexico" a few weekends a month.

so you are running a separate fuel tank and pump? how much did that set you back and why/how did you go that route and keep the stock system?

                  ***edit***
read that wrong. reading it the first time i thought you had a separate tank with the eliminator pump but after re-reading it, i'm guessing that you use the eliminator pump to pull though the focus pump? is that right?

I want to take my blower 2v to them and see if they can produce a better tune for me. another shop did mine and I'd like to compare since this tune likes to flood it with fuel.
