  • 2012 idle problem

I have a 2012 5.0. I swung by the place to grab the girlfriend for a bite to eat and when I started car back up the idle was low, lopey, and it smelled like unburned gas. It wasn't enough to be immediately noticeable, but the loss of torque almost killed the motor when I turned the ac on. I drove about 50 feet before pulling over, popping hood and having a peek. That's when I noticed the gas smell and the lopey idle. I shut it off, started again and no problems. I have had the sct tune and jlt intake off my car for a week. I have had 0 issues but I was concerned with damaging something so I'm leaving it off. Anyone have any experience with something like this? If I bring it in will they discover my tune while diagnosing it and make me pay?

I was thinking more along the lines of its hot, the gas sucked, some tolerance was was close and its a 1 to million these motors might do that in this environment. Cause the alternative is something is broke.

Is it a mail order tune? If so I would recommend a dyno tune. There seems to be a common problem with mail order tunes in the mustangs. Noticeably killing number 8 cylinder..

It was a mail order tune... but the vehicle has been returned to stock for almost 2 weeks now. I think I said 1 week in my original post, but I can't count well without my shoes off. The stock calibration has been controlling everything for about 2000 miles now (I went to denver and back).

Sounds like you need to buy a Chevy
