well gettting the short block is alot cheaper than you think. You can get a brand new dart short block, ready to go for $4500 good for 1000hp. Now everything else will start to rack up and get expensive. lol (i think they are still going for that price)

I was expecting about 12k in underhood ALONE.

Not to mention the REST of the car to handle that power.
