  • Bent or not?

well was looking over my dads mustang and noticed something odd about the front wheels......driver side wheel sits about a 1/2-3/4 or so back in the wheel then the passenger side......

my question is.....how do you tell if the control arm or the subframe is bent? car drives straight.......has a good alignment...about to get new tires for the front of it since the orignals are beat from the PO of the car.

    any info would help....thanks

Sounds like something is bent or misalligned...

measure from the wheel center of front wheel to wheel center of rear wheel on both sides and see if there is a big difference in the measurement, like more than 1\4 - 3/8"

ok update.....i got my dads car up in the air to check it out. The arm doesnt look bent compared to the other.....i know the tie rod was bent and was replaced cuz it looks newer then everything else.......i know the shocks are new.....but i think the spindle is bent.....possible to bend the spindle? i noticed that the shock boot is rubbing the paint off the shock on that side and not the other so i would guess its the spindle....anyone confirm.

If the arm isn't bent then the next things down the line are spindle, k-member, and unibody.

You say the alignment is correct, but is the alignment of the panels you are referencing correct? I'd be more inclined to believe you have body moulding out of place, fenders mis-aligned etc.. if the front end is in good shape.

well, i know something is bent...if you would saw the orignal tie rod that was on it when we got it you would have been like wtf.... im going to hope its the control and spindle.....so im going to snag one of a rear end stang in the yard and do a swap and see if it changes it.....really dont want to do a k member.
