    Should be a Ford pump.
I plugged in my original factory pump assembly (placed on the ground) to the fuel pump molex near the tank. Each time I cycle the key, the pump turns for a second or two and then turns off.
I have my original factory pump which worked when removed and still spins when given 12V and I'm tempted to install it.
Does Ford sell just the pump or do they rape you for the entire unit?
What brands of aftermarket pump to get/avoid? I'm not buying the entire float/sending unit assembly. I have two that work already.

ford is the whole assy, as well as airtex from oreilly. If you use an am pump only, go walbro. Id be tempted to use your original too, its not that hard to drop the tank. Get a filler neck grommet though! you may end up with a leak.

There is a walbro in my original assembly but it does not fit as well as the original pump and the cup had to be modified. Do they make one that fits?

I have an electric fuel pump I use to siphon gas out of my skis via a few feet of rubber hose. just needs 12v to the red/black leads to work. you're welcome to it if you want to lighten the tank.

                    Yes.
Thanks Kyle and Tyrone Biggums and everyone else for info! Installed new pump which fit fine using the supplied rubber mounts.
FYI, most manuals say that one of the fuel pump relays on the DOHC is in the passenger kick panel above the computer which is correct but they really should say drop the glovebox down and it is in your face.
The pump that failed was a factory pump & assembly with the same model number on it as my factory pump. It did not last very long. I would say 5000 miles or so.

Ive seen alot more pump failures since the introduction of ethanol into gasoline. I cant help but think the fact that ethanol is so hydroscopic has contributed. When you fill up, noone knows what theyre getting

Since I don't drive the car that much I try to keep it full and I put in Sta-Bil marine formula every fill up. May need more anti-ethanol treatment.

Glad it worked. I agree on the ethanol treatment with as little as you drive it. Look in to a product called StarTron. I move a bit of it for ethanol related issues.
