  • What's going on with Coyote swaps???

Came across a fox-coyote swap and was wondering what's being done out there.

If you have links to specific builds that would be great.

Just spit-balling. I've always liked sn95 cars. Anyone out there swapping coyotes into them?

96-98 GTs are cheap. Wondering if you could buy the car, get it in decent shApE, and swap that motor in for 10k or less.

I imagine the Coyote motors are still priced high, but that will change with time.

Don't bother mentioning an lsx swap, that's not what this thread is about.

EDIT - meant to say decent "shape" not "shop"

you know it's a fad, right? every new motor that comes out gets put in everyone's favorite affordable mustang and that would be the foxbody!

you can find the motors for about $6k $1500 for the wiring. you'll need a k-member. I thought about doing it on a fox Instead i just bought a new 5.0 Much nicer anyways

5.0 Mustangs and Fast Fords is doing one into a 94 Cobra. The Oct issue is part two.

Hmmm, wonder how long it is before the motor/tranny take-outs are more like $3000. Quick google search turned up brand new complete motors for $6k.

Even at $3k, $1500 for wiring AND still needing a k-member makes it seem a lot less appealing. Assuming prices do happen to drop that low for the motor a year from now getting all the crap rounded up could be $8k easily once you've rounded up the wiring, exhaust, throttle body crap, k-member/front end crap. Then you still don't have a car to put it into, lol.

Just need these hard parts and the rest is basic swap stuff.

Yeah, but when you do the math for how much it REALLY costs to get 400 reliable n/a wheel horsepower, it's not really that high. LS1 excluded, of course. And by the way, those have gotten a shitload more expensive recently.

Any idea what platform they swap into the easiest between the fox, sn95, new edge??? Would a DOHC cobra car still need a new K? Just my imagination, but those motors were BIG on a stand. Would seem like the architecture would be similar. I have no idea if those cars used a different K than their GT counterparts.

Yeah, true, not to mention somewhat efficient given the output.

Any mustang with a mod motor, gt or cobra, the coyote motor will bolt right in using the factory k member and factory motor mounts. If the car has a pushrod motor, then you will need a k member for a mod. Otherwise they bolt right in and right up to a trans with a mod bell housing.. I have done extensive research on this as i almost pulled the trigger and put on onto my 95 gt...

This is probably asking for trouble, but given the right bellhousing a 3550 would work? I have one so if I was to go down this path it would be one less thing to buy initially.
