Oh and just FYI if the battery is really messed up it wont hardly even jump start. Sometimes the plates in the battery do some weird stuff and not even jumping will help. The heat is a killer and with the winter we had batteries are having a hard time this year. One extreme to another is bad news.

Batteries are usually only good for 3-5 years. Was it the original? If so you did pretty good.

            Battery.

The alarm is going off because the voltage is dropping low enough. If you were to remove and replace the battery the alarm will go off too.

Everything else works because it still has enough to power the radio, locks ect but not enough for the starter to turn through compression.

That's pretty much what happened to me in the Acura. One day it was fine, the next day I couldn't turn it off without having to get a jump start again. Went to have the battery tested and supposedly it tested fine at a few shops, but when I went to Talisman's work, they said it was shot. Replaced it and haven't had a problem since.

BUT in the year and a half ive had the truck, its never been in the shop or had anything other than oil changes so i guess im doing alright. and i still wish i would've got a silverado

So it was a non-Ford specific part that caused the issue, yep, you shoulda got a Silverado...

The heat will kill batteries on ANY vehicle.

Learn to work on your own vehicle and it won't cost you a $1000.00.

Battery ($60-70 Dollars), Alternator ($200-300 dollars), and those two items are easy to replace.

If money wasn't an issue, then why bring it up?

I totally agree with you on the time vs. money thing though, I spent probably more than it's worth for the extended warrantee on my car, but it's nice to know that regardless of what happens, they'll come pick it up, fix it, and give me a loaner car while it's in the shop.

                                thanks for the help guys!

well aaron i brought up the cost because it was surely the next question to be asked.. of the 4 people that were here with me at work when the truck wouldnt start, all 4 asked me the next day what it cost to get fixed.

Again i'll reitterate, ive had the truck for 1.5 years and its never had more than a couple oil changes and a tire roatation.

DFWstangs is definately full of some hardass DIY motherfuckers though.. i only came into this forum to get a quick answer to a question.
