yes I have the four gauge on the stud and the yellow wire coming off the three prong connector going there. Then there is a brownish wire that goes to its own connector on the alternator. The last is a green red wire that i hooked into the green red wire in the wiring harness that went to the connector on the old alternator.

I have the battery down at vato zone getting checked and charged right now. Soon as it comes back i'll try and rev the car up past 2500 to see what happens.

from the alternator to the solenoid is 4 gauge.

from the ground side of the battery its 1/0 going to the block.

1/0 from the battery to the solenoid and 1/0 from the solenoid to the starter.

damn. what is your block grounded to the frame with? usually people just ground the battery in the back on the rear shock mount to the frame and then ground the block in the front to the frame. uses smaller, shorter cables. lol.

What kind of condition are the battery cable and ends? If you are reusing some of the old cable and battery ends, I would make sure you have good clean, tight connections.

I see you are using 1/0, so my question is what kind of ends did you put on or were they already on?

the battery cables and ends are brand new welding wire.

The ends are brand new copper hammer on ends from the welding shop.

They said the battery was bad so they gave me a new one.

off the charge across the posts is 12.47
                  800rpm idle - 12.09
                  2000rpm - 12.12

I still havent hooked up my electric fan. Thats the last peice. Is this good enough to keep the system charged or not?

Seems kind of low. I am running the stock alt and I am around the 13-14 range on the gauge. Granted, I dont have near the amount of electronics that a stock car would have, but even turning on the electric fans and my cool shirt, I am steady at 13-14 according to my volt meter. I would think if it was a new battery, you would be 13+ when you put a meter to it.

You should have 13.5-14. Check the lug on the back of the alternator and see what voltage is coming out of the alternator. If it is 12 volts then you have a bad voltage regulator. Cheap and easy to swap out. If its closer to 14 volts, the its probably the wire going to the battery that is killing the voltage.. Im willing to bet its not the latter... Seen this situation many times with the 3g alternator, the regulator in them suck ass..

I've pulled the voltage off the back of the alternator earlier and it was bouncing between a high 11 low 12. I've never seen anything in the whole situation that has read 13 or 14

Well, I think you may have found your problem. Did you buy the alternator new or used?
