Okay, I have an '03 under the knife right now. I was wanting to narrow about 2 inches each side. So, from what I am reading, instead of going thru all the steps necessary to cut down the housing and order axles...I should be able to just put in a 79-93 and automatically have my 2+ inches needed....correct? I have a friend with a built 8.8 out of an '87 he is selling with drum brakes. I should be able to swap over everything I have needed to make it disc.?. Thanks for the help! YES....I know it is an OOOOOOLD topic lol.

I thought 87 to 93 where 59 1/4 drum to drum or axle face.

Yes, the Fox housing should get you close to the width you are looking for. Adding disk brakes could add some back to the width depending upon which route you take to do it. Look into North Race Cars brackets to keep the Fox width with disk brakes.
