  • Rotella oil question.

Thinking of switching over and using it in my car instead.

I use Valvoline now, should I stick with that or would rotella offer more protection?

    TIA.

march of '07 the zinc was taken out of all passenger car and truck oils, your VR1 valvoline still has a decent amount of zinc, i think. only thing left in diesel oils is a massive amount of detergents which has the ability to cause detonation.

I use rotella and stp oil additive (it has zddp in it ) and they carry it at AZ. Everyone has an opinion on oils. Run it in all my turbo applications and never had any detonation issues or engine failures for that matter. But I'm sure others have had success with a just about any oil on the market. Its a prefrence thing.

You can still buy the better delo 400 from suppliers. Not sure about Rotella. I just bought a drum for my grandpa's farm from the CO OP.

          Good ci4 rating

Newer less zinc and manganese cj4
