  • Small block ford ?s

So my Little e7 302 runs alright but only to 5000rpm.

I could do a top end kit and make more power, turn more rpm, but the fact is the stock block isn't worth putting money into in today's performance.

So lets talk small block ford.

Let's not talk about SBC, BBC, BBF lsx, or even modular ford.

This is what I want, i want solid power north of 6000rpm+ but i don't want low end mid range torque to suffer.

    I entertain the thought of a 408 stroker, n/a 450hp/550trq is average I'd say.

But in today's world you need to be in the low 6s high 5s to compete.

So I ask, if you wanted a high revving torque monster small block ford, what would you build?

I would like low mid to low 7s on motor. With the idea of spray.

This is food for thought. Thanks.

A stock shortblock 351w with a good h/c/i setup will do better than you would think.

By all means build a 400+ cu fontana block with neal heads and a custom intake and cam then, balla.

I wouldn't mind around 500rwhp on motor and over 600lbft.

          Then nitrous

I'm going to build the car first, suspension mods

I want mid to low 8s with stock motor on drag radials.

Then I'll put power to it.

Can you even fix your fucking bumper cover?

Where are you gonna come up with the money for this "monster" n/a motor?

600rwtq na is a serious sbf build and anything around 400cu will be hard pressed to do 600rwtq @ 500rwhp. Here is an example:

better shoot for 350/350 in numbers first and see how that works for you. It would be a night and day difference from what you have now.

Well I'd like to have an idea of what I want in the future, and yes I can fix the bumper just other things come first.

Plan on exterior is get it patched up then painted.

For as far as paying for a engine build goes further then Autozone.

I don't plan on staying there forever.

True, but 350rwhp isn't shit. If I can't beat 2012 cars that are stock why spend money on it?

The other way would build a stock shortblock 351w and do h/c/I. But I see that as wasted money because it will still be slow.

I want to run in the 5s at some time in my life.

You underestimate the capabilities of a torquey little small block in a light-ass coupe.

Oh my little shit box 302 makes my little coupe keep up with heavier cars with a lot more power.

The only thing I hate is falling short on the big end due to lack of power. Falls on it's face after 5000rpm.. Having a power band of 2500-5000 isn't that awesome to me.

My 331 has a forged crank, stud girdle and a wrapping little cam that can spin the motor with some heavy-breathing heads and intake. That is all it takes to make it jump up and go without hitting the RPM wall.

Sure, these newer motors will already do it, but at this point, that might be your cheapest/quickest way into contention with those cars.
