After that I hit all those above with compressed air. It started and had to warm up a bit but was able to take foot off gas and it idle normally. I played with the idle screw and air mix screws a bit till it was idling at about 950rpm. Only issue now is when I pop it into gear it drops to about 6-650rpm. Seems a bit drastic in rpm change IMO. It dips to about 500 and corrects itself to 6-650rpm and stays there. Pop it into park and it goes back to 950. In park, i click on the ac and it again drops to about te same rpm as if I was putting it into gear. When in gear, and I turn on ac, it barely does anything to the rpm range.
Your problems most likely stem from trash floating around in the idle mixture circuits, improper adjustment, high floats and possibly a bad PV - or a combination of all the above. Personally I would be taking the metering block off, needle and seats out and clean the shit out of the whole thing and follow that up with blowing it out REAL good with compressed air. (especially the mixture circuits)

That red wagoneer I posted in the stripe thread had a brand new Holley offroad avenger on the 401 when they came out. Ran like shit, missed, and would not accelerate right. Sent it back to summit and got a new edelbrock and it ran perfect.Whos your Daddy?

Ok! Took it out to a local high school and started at 1/2 turn on both mix screws and would start from a stop. Got it to 2 1/2 turns and went backwards. Finally got a "sweet spot" of 1 1/2 turns on both screws. It still is sluggish upon stomping on it at a dead stop. It also still shifts from park/neutral to gear drastically. I.e. Idle at 1000rpm, shiftto a gear, it bogs down to 500ish then settles at 650-700. It also doesn't like slowing. SO problem areas are bogging or plateauing upon acceleration then launches, and it has a drastic change in rpm when shift from park/neutral to a gear. Any ideas?? Lastly, the carb has bowl view ports on the side. The front bow, when running, is about 1/8 to a 1/4 in view while the rear bowl window shows fuel level at 3/4 in view. Carbs are new to me and quite frankly hate em .
