Took apart the diff today and I was wondering what these numbers mean.

what the hell broke, a spider? or did the cross pin get slung out of the carrier.

2.62" is the pinion depth, the .008" is lash...standard shit for aftermarket gears.

A bolt that holds the ring gear in place came loose and backed out, got thrown around and caught between the ring gear and the carrier. It was jammed in place and went for a ride round and around hitting the pinion gear each time.

The ring gear was loose on the carrier, the rest of the bolts were finger loose and a few were about half way in. Once I took the rest of the bolts out, all I had to do was push the ring gear with my finger and it fell off the carrier. Is that normal? I thought they were pressed in place?

The bolt came around and got caught inbetween the clutch tags and the diff cover and bent and broke the tags. The carrier has hell of a lot of damage and dents.

Those numbers don't mean shit. Maybe to the guy who installed them.

he said the gears howled, so obviously the first guy didnt know either. Also, I dont ever trust a/m markings, theyre never worth a shit. Also, I hope you got a new crush sleeve.

No the ring gear should not fall off that easy. I use the bolts to pull the ring gear onto the center unit. Using red loctite and a 1/2 impact and call it a day.
