Rear end popping?!!

with that i would rebuild everything but thats just me!

I want to, but at the same time I just need something to tide me over until I can get my other housing built.

I plan on doing rear suspension, torque boxes and 31 spline swap all in one swipe..

Can't afford what I want right now, so hopefully I can just patch it up for now.

Hey turbo. Here's my idea just for now.

Take the carrier out and check for cracks and damage. Replace the clutches and figure out the wiggle.

I'm trying to do this on a budget of somekind and I know I'm not suppose to due to metal shavings, but clean and replace the bearings as good as possible and set the Carrier in place using the same shims I took out?

That should get me by until I can build a 31 spline out of my extra rear end I have?

I have some extra diff parts and a parts washer if you need it Mike . You could just add an extra clutch to each side if you want to tighten it up on the cheap .

its not recomended but fact is it will get you by. as long as the bearings aren't pitted and the races aren't pitted and scored you will likely be ok. just clean everything in a parts washer like dumpy offered. do the extra clutch mod, torque everthing to spec and seal it up with fluid and modifier. it will be fine.

if he planned on leaving it stock... 31 are good, cheap, and readly available and alot stronger than anything stock. I have broken many 28 spline axles on mild street setups with slicks and rev limiter dumps.

I don’t have much c4,Ecam, 1.7, air gap intake, shorty's,holley600 and 410s probably a little lighter then yours 2900 or 2800 I think. But for one I don’t race in Mexico been there done that been caught! If you ever come to a cruise in Kennedale or maybe northstar I’m down.

Car should be pretty light.
