  • Dropping a 4.6 DOHC in.

Is it possible to drop a 4v with bbk long tubes in with a stock k member?

If not those headers are going to suck.

    In a 2003 Gt

yeah, I used to do it all the time in my 96 Cobra. Motor, trans, and headers all together as one.

Do you have a leveler on the cherry picker?

I'll be dropping it from the ceiling or my shop ... And yes I'll be using a leveler

I was able to drop it in just using a cherry picker, didn't use a leveler.

I seem to remember that the motor/trans sat at a pretty steep angle. Basically having the tail of the trans pointed straight at the ground.

Also getting around the steering shaft is a kind of a pain. Either had to leave the driver side header loose or we undid the steering shaft to make room to get it all to drop down.

Dropping with the trans on should make it easier.

                We got this.

How hard is the shaft to reconnect wIth the motor in?

If you had to do it again which would be the quickest easiest way?

Car is on stands and the motor is hanging. Not about to drop the k member plus don't have a lift

I couldn't get the motor/transmission/BBK LT headers in or out of my 98 GT with the stock K member. Kept hitting the back of the K with the headers. Finally just said fuck it and dropped the K member out of the way. As wide as a 4V motor is, I highly doubt it's going to go in without hitting.

So unbolt the k member, drop it down lower engine in, bolt k member back up?

Stock k member is a POS idk why they make them so damn bulky.

Yep. That is what I had to do. Think I had to drop it down 4 or 5 inches to get the clearance.
