  • Fox body speed sensor?

The gear inside the transmission that runs the speedo gear grenaded so my speed sensor isn't getting any input.

I was wondering what the speed sensor does? What is it's function?

The cable and gears drive the speedometer, does the speed sensor just record speed and store it in the Air bag module? Or does it make adjustments in the ECM?

    Thanks!

It is used in conjunction with with the IAC by the ECM to raise the idle slightly when slowing to a stop and during gear changes. It has a minor role in the 'strategy' selection by the ECM.
